Mt Albert Character

The owners of this renovated bungalow in Mt Albert had just returned from overseas and had an eclectic mix of existing furniture that they wanted to be integrated into the new space. I was immediately drawn to a mid-century armchair that they purchased from a junk shop in the UK, and after recovering the chair in a fun fabric of blue and cream tones, I decided to design the entire room around it. The clients wanted a funky retro vibe and were not afraid to go with a bold wallpaper in green tones by Nina Campbell. It was a perfect match for the rich, decadent paint colour that I selected, and also had a white trim which helped to anchor it to the room. The velvet sofa and thick knitted cushions tied the colour scheme together and created a play on textures. To finish things off, I covered the ottoman with two shades of blue that brought in the rug and the sky outside the large windows at the end of the room.
