Divine Downsizing
This project is the perfect example of how a major downsize, from a house to an urban apartment in Newmarket, does not mean that you have to sacrifice a cosy homey vibe. We wanted to integrate pieces that the clients already owned, and use colours and textures to create a beautiful, cohesive look. Optimising space was important, so I designed a custom entertainment centre that would hide away unsightly cords and switches. In the living area I went with stripes, pops of mustard and a large gold mirror that adds a touch of elegance and creates the illusion of a larger room. For the bedroom, I selected a sweet mix of velvets and a traditional white cotton quilt along with two accent pillows that feature a lively plant print. A wooden custom-made dining table offers the perfect spot for meals, in a size that does not overwhelm the area. A large wooden buffet adds additional storage and looks beautiful with the wood floors.
