Keeping the old and weaving in the new

The owners of this fabulous mid-century home wanted a refresh but were rather attached to some particular features. For this reason, I had to craft a strategy that would integrate pieces that they wanted to keep while embracing a new aesthetic. I wanted to incorporate a sense of modernity with pops of mustard yellow that provided a sense of excitement. We added items that were true to the architecture of the space such as the art deco shelving unit and a custom made entertainment centre. The simplicity of the design allows them to watch television without it becoming a focal point of the room, which can be a challenge with large electronics. The bold colours and pattern of the pillows and the small ottoman beautifully complement the denim sofa and bespoke rich navy bench. Finally, the circular ottoman was constructed with lush stitching detail and luxurious yellow velvet. The owners were delighted with the outcome and the pieces they loved blended seamlessly with the new additions to the room.
