A Wonderful Wellington Dream Home

Stunning – is the only word that comes to mind when not just describing this home but also its views overlooking Oriental Bay.  This retired coupled wanted a home that leveraged their amazing location and also spoke to their personal sense of style making it clear that didn’t shy away from a pop of colour.  The dark exterior paint is set off by a bright green front door that beckons passer-bys to give it a second glance.  From top to bottom, they wanted my input on how to make this house a home they are so proud to call their own.

For those with conservative tastes a palette of watermelon and lime green may make you cringe, but boy did it work in this space!  The striped sofa shines when placed next to this custom made rug and the extra chair make for a great conversation space.  Bold and fun couches and chairs in another area carve out a more formal seating area even though it is all located in the same large room.  I used their existing dining room table as they love to entertain and the size and shape was too ideal not to include.  The grand doors in the back and the front make it hard to decide where exactly the outside starts which is just the feel they were seeking- inviting nature into their home.

Cheerful green hued fabrics add life and lightness to the heavy desk in the study.  All throughout the owner’s artwork is a focus showing off their collection accrued over the years.  From the bespoke furniture and rugs to the cushions, lampshades and fixtures – everything was selected with a wonderful flow in mind.  Walking from room to room, the feeling of warmth and intentional design are ever apparent.
