The favourite Gilbert and Sullivan operetta MIKADO lends its name to this pure cotton velvet with a luxurious pile. The 21 colours from Osborne & Little’s contemporary palette include vibrant tones of peacock, turquoise, raspberry, chartreuse and plum with more restrained neutrals of pebble, stone, taupe and pewter. Exceptional Martindale abrasion of 100,000 this fabric will resist the wear of the toughest of kids and pets.

These plain velvets combine particularly well with the embroideries in MASQUE, the patterned velvets and braids in the SAVOY collections and the printed fabrics in ENCHANTED GARDENS. The Savoy Theatre in London was built by Richard D’Oyly Carte in the late nineteenth century to be the home of the Gilbert and Sullivan operettas.
